Hacer Past Participle and Hacer Present Perfect Tense

Click Here to learn how to conjugate irregular Spanish verbs quickly and with ease

Normally, the past participle is formed by using the stem of the verb and adding ‘-ado’ for those verbs ending in -ar and ‘-ido’ for those that end in -er or -ir. However, some verbs are irregular and hacer past participle is one such example. The past participle for hacer is ‘Hecho’, this is important to know as the past participle is used in all the perfect tenses, both indicative and subjunctive.

The most commonly used of the perfect tenses is the present perfect. Hacer present perfect uses the present tense of the irregular verb ‘haber’, meaning to have, as the prefix followed by hacer past participle and this is shown in the table below.

Hacer Present Perfect

Singular
yo he hecho I have done/made
has hecho You have done/made
él, ella, usted ha hecho He/She/You have done/made
Plural
nosotros/as hemos hecho We have done/made
vosotros/as habéis hecho You have done/made
ellos, ellas, ustedes han hecho They/You have done/made

Hacer Subjunctive: Conjugation of Hacer in the Subjunctive Tenses

Click Here to learn how to conjugate irregular Spanish verbs quickly and with ease

All tenses of Hacer in the Subjunctive are irregular and will therefore need a lot of studying in order to memorize them. Thankfully, in all hacer subjunctive tenses it is not the endings that are irregular, as they follow the pattern of regular -er verbs in the subjunctive, but the stem of the actual verb.

In hacer present subjunctive the stem changes from ‘hac-‘ to ‘hag-‘ and in the subjunctive imperfect and future it changes to ‘hic- and all these changes are highlighted in bold red below.

Learning Spanish verb conjugations, such as those encountered with the highly irregular verb hacer is very difficult, especially when you consider that hacer is only one of many irregular verbs in Spanish that are used on a daily basis. That is why a good verb training software program is essential when it comes to mastering Spanish verbs as quickly and as thoroughly as possible.

I have only ever used one such program that has been of true benefit to me and my advice would be to check out this There is one that I would like to suggest as it was, and still is, an invaluable aid to me when I was studying Spanish verbs and I would advise you to check out this Verbarrator Review to see for yourself the benefits of using such a program. Just click on the link and take 5 minutes to check it out… you will find it as beneficial as I did I’m sure!
